This is Dayton’s first suburb. Founded in 1908, the city of Oakwood, resides on top of Hawthrone Hill and is home to many Art Deco, Victorian, and Lowry style homes. Many people left Dayton after the great flood of 1913 and moved to Oakwood. Oakwood has the Wright Library, tree lined boulevards, Hill & Dales Park and Parisan style shopping centers.
