Bedding the Ruger M77 Hawkeye Alaskan rifle Houge stock

stianhammersvik asked:

This type of bedding involves simply bedding the recoil lug of a bolt-action rifle to its inlet in the stock. This provides a solid and repeatable mating surface between the recoil lug and stock, eliminating uneven bearing between the two

When do you trim the run off? When you ***** the bolts in doesn’t some compound get pushed into the threading of the gun?

The Ruger M77 Hawkeye Alaskan only comes in 375 and 416 Ruger. The recoil is no problem. I like to make big holes, more bleeding and easy tracking:-)

Do you find your gun ever shoots zero loose…because of the heavier recoil…why didnt you pick a .308?

The stock is an improved replacement stock delivered by Houge. There was discovered weakness in the stock of some Hawkeye Alaskan rifles in the early production. So they sent me this one for free. The calibre of this rifle is 375 Ruger. You can also have the Ruger Alaskan in 416 Ruger..
